Clinton’s Ties To Military-Industrial Complex Are As Serious A Concern As Her Ties To Wall Street

Clinton CFR ABC News Screen Grab

There’s been considerable concern, for good reason, about Hillary Clinton’s Wall Street ties, but I don’t think this is the biggest problem to be concerned about should she be elected. I am even more worried about her neoconservative foreign policy views, and being a lackey for the military-industrial complex.

Jeffrey Sachs, Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University, described the problem, starting with discussion of John F. Kennedy. Perhaps Ted Kennedy even thought of the vast differences between Clinton and his brother when endorsing Obama over Clinton in 2008.

Sachs wrote that, in her speech before the Council on Foreign Relations, Clinton “doubled down on the existing, failed U.S. approach in the Middle East, the one she pursued as Secretary of State.”

In rare cases, great presidents learn to stand up to the CIA and the rest of the military-industrial-intelligence complex. JFK became one of the greatest presidents in American history when he came to realize the awful truth that his own military and CIA advisors had contributed to the onset of the Cuban Missile Crisis. The CIA-led Bay of Pigs fiasco and other CIA blunders had provoked a terrifying response from the Soviet Union. Recognizing that the U.S. approach had contributed to bringing the world to the brink, Kennedy bravely and successfully stood up to the warmongering pushed by so many of his advisors and pursued peace, both during and after the Cuban Missile Crisis. He thereby saved the world from nuclear annihilation and halted the unchecked proliferation of nuclear arms.

Clinton’s speech shows that she and her advisors are good loyalists of the military-industrial-intelligence complex. Her speech included an impressive number of tactical elements: who should do the bombing and who should be the foot soldiers. Yet all of this tactical precision is nothing more than business as usual. Would Clinton ever have the courage and vision to push back against the U.S. security establishment, as did JFK, and thereby restore global diplomacy and reverse the upward spiral of war and terror?

Just as the CIA contributed to the downward slide to the Cuban Missile Crisis, and just as many of JFK’s security chiefs urged war rather than negotiation during that crisis, so too today’s Middle East terrorism, wars, and refugee crises have been stoked by misguided CIA-led interventions. Starting in 1979, the CIA began to build the modern Sunni jihadist movement, then known as the Mujahedeen, to fight the Soviet Union in Afghanistan. The CIA recruited young Sunni Muslim men to fight the Soviet infidel, and the CIA provided training, arms, and financing. Yet soon enough, this US-created jihadist army turned on the US, a classic and typical case of blowback.

The anti-U.S. and anti-Western blowback started with the first Gulf War in 1990 when the U.S. stationed troops throughout the region. It continued with the Second Gulf War when the U.S. toppled a Sunni regime in Iraq and replaced it with a puppet Shia regime. In the process, it dismantled Saddam’s Sunni-led army, which then regrouped as a core part of in Iraq.

The evidence is that the covert U.S. actions against Assad pre-date the overt U.S. calls for Assad’s overthrow in 2011 by at least a couple of years.

In a similar vein, the U.S. teamed up with France and the UK to bomb Libya and kill Muammar Qaddafi. The result has been an ongoing Libyan civil war, and the unleashing of violent jihadists across the African Sahel, including Mali, which suffered the terrorist blow last week at the hands of such marauders.

Thanks to America’s misguided policies, we now have wars and violence raging across a 5,000-mile stretch from Bamako, Mali to Kabul, Afghanistan, with a U.S. hand in starting and stoking the violence. Libya, Sudan, the Sinai, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan are all cases where the U.S. has directly intervened with very adverse results. Mali, Chad, Central African Republic, Somalia are some of the many other countries indirectly caught up in turmoil unleashed by U.S. covert and overt operations…

An between Clinton and any of the likely Republican candidates would offer no real choice. Clinton’s plan to handle ISIS is unlikely to work. We can only hope that Clinton can be defeated for the Democratic nomination. Sachs ended by contrasting Clinton’s views with those of Martin O’Malley and Bernie Sanders:

O’Malley and Sanders wisely and correctly support an America that works with other countries and with the UN Security Council to build peace in the Middle East rather than an America that continues to indulge in endless and failed CIA adventures of regime change and war. While Clinton arrogantly demands that other countries such as Russia and Iran fall squarely behind the U.S., O’Malley and Sanders recognize that it is through compromise in the UN Security Council that we can defeat ISIS and find lasting solutions in the Middle East.

Whether Clinton could ever break free of the military-industrial complex remains to be seen. If she does become president, our very survival will depend on her capacity to learn.

O’Malley and Sanders did criticize Clinton’s foreign policy views in the second Democratic debate, but it is clear that Bernie’s heart is in attaching her Wall Street ties. I wish he would pay as much attention to her ties to the military-industrial complex and her overly hawkish foreign policy views. It could be hard running against those who pander to fear, but it is important to do if we are to avoid perpetual warfare under either Clinton or a Republican president. As the most popular Senator in America, Sanders might be able to pull this off. Iowa has long been a strong state for anti-war movements, and the Democratic primary voters should respond to this issue.

Armed Texas Militia Group Intimidates and Posts Names, Addresses of Muslims Living in Area on Social Media

Armed protesters, with some of them wearing masks, stood outside an Irving, Texas, mosque on Saturday just as evening prayers had finished, and today the group intimidated the people there even further by publishing the home addresses of dozens of Muslims and “Muslim sympathizer[s]” in the city.

Irving

“THE NAME AND ADDRESS OF EVERY MUSLIM AND MUSLIM SYMPATHIZER THAT STOOD UP FOR SHARIA TRIBUNALS IN IRVING TX. LISTED BELOW,” wrote David Wright III, the organizer of Saturday’s armed protested outside the Irving Islamic Center, The Dallas Morning News reports.

Sometimes, those who identify with the three percenters, a group of anti-government extremists, add the ‘III’ at the end of their names on social media in support of the movement, however, I don’t know if this is the case with this individual or not, but it seems likely.

Wright went on to post a document with the name and address of every resident and speaker who opposed a City Council vote earlier this year after false rumors that Irving’s mosque held a Shariah court led city leaders.

Wright also posted the addresses on his personal Facebook page, writing, “We should stop being afraid to be who we are! We like to have guns designed to kill people that pose a threat in a very efficient manner.”

A Facebook friend weighed in under the post, “Abide by it [the constitution] or be treated as the treasonous filth or invaders that you are.”

At the armed rally on Saturday, Wright said he chose the Irving mosque partly because local Muslims had threatened to kill the mayor, something The Dallas Morning News says it has seen no evidence which backs up their claim.

Wright also said at the protest that he organized the rally in response to the recent terrorist attack in Paris and he added that he wants to block Syrian refugees from coming to America while fleeing violence at the hands of ISIL.

More than 100 people have made plans to attend another rally at the Irving Islamic Center this weekend to protest Wright’s anti-Muslim group and show support for the town’s Muslims.

“The mosque in Irving receives a lot of hate and ugliness,” said Tonya Cadenhead, an Irving resident who organized the event. “I decided to do something nice for them and show them not everyone has an ugly heart.”

The armed group’s actions are strictly to intimidate the citizens of Irving and that should be taken up with the police. Gun extremists have now passed on the addresses of Muslim families to other gun nuts. What could go wrong?

Floridians Frustrated by Delays in Medical Marijuana Law

ORLANDO, Fla. — As desperately ill Floridians await treatment, the state has yet to license under a law approved by the Legislature 18 months ago.

State officials were expected to select five companies last month to start growing the plant, but the process of reviewing 24 applications is continuing, with no word on when selections might be made.

“I’m actually numb to it now. That makes me so frustrated I can’t believe it,” said Rob Holl of Longwood, who wants to give the medicine to his adult daughter Megan. She suffers from a severe seizure disorder, leading her family to worry that one of her frequent attacks could be fatal.

The law, approved in spring 2014, allows noneuphoric medicine to be made from marijuana to treat epilepsy and other neurological conditions that bring on seizures or tremors, as well as a handful of other disorders. The original plan was for growers to be selected by this time last year, and to be ready to start growing plants by this past January.

But legal challenges and drawn-out rule-writing led to several delays. Last summer all of those disputes appeared settled, but now the state is working with applications that run hundreds of pages long, and almost all of them were missing critical information when they were submitted.

Officials are saying little about when decisions might be made, even to lawmakers.

It has been a long year for people such as the Holls, and the Stock family of Crystal Beach.

Jean Stock’s adult son Danny has Dravet syndrome, which causes severe seizures.

“We have been so eager to try it with our son. He has had many hospitalizations over the years, and we have almost lost him several times,” she said.

Stock said she knows families who have moved to Colorado or other states where they are able to obtain similar marijuana extracts, such as one known by the brand name Charlotte’s Web, which have significantly reduced or ended seizures in some patients.

When asked about the anticipated October target for selections, Department of Health spokeswoman Mara Gambineri said in an Oct. 22 email, “There were deficiencies within the applications that required additional correspondence with applicants.

“The department provided an update to the Legislature recently committing to have the licenses issued this fall,” she stated.

An Orlando Sentinel review of the department’s letters to applicants reveals that mistakes or omissions were discovered in all the applications, and that the department then gave each grower more time to provide more or revised information.

In those letters, released last week through ‘s open-records laws, some deficiencies appear easily fixed, such as a grower forgetting to send over a copy of its state Department of Agriculture certificate, or attaching an auditor’s report that was not signed.

But in more than half of the applications, the department is not disclosing the problems it found. The letters were redacted, and the department declared the information was protected from release under unspecified exemptions of Florida’s public-records laws.

Anthony Ardizzone of Ed Miller & Sons is a grower whose application was denied because it was turned in 15 minutes late back on the July 8 deadline. He is angry about the rewritten applications.

He expects someone — he won’t say whether he’ll do it himself — to sue the state challenging the license awards, because the published rules stated the applications had to be complete and final July 8.

And that would likely cause more delays.

“That is absurd. The rules applied to me,” Ardizzone said. “They’re letting the applicants make their applications conform to what the applications should have been, after the fact. And that’s not right. If you didn’t have your application right, you should have been kicked out.”

Holl said the delays “hurt people like us and the other families out there. To folks like Betsy (his wife) and I, and the other families we’ve met, this is real-life, major, heavy stuff.”

Elected Police Chiefs says, “I often use the word ‘n**ger’ because that’s the way it is here”

(EXAMINER) was sworn in as the city of Farrell, Pennsylvania‘s next Police Chief on Nov. 16, and he is set to assume office in January 2016. However, his new, not-yet-existing administration has already been hit by a scandal.

Evidence surfaced on Nov. 20 that Burke, the retired Police Chief of Sharon, Pennsylvania, distributed a racist email. Ernienewsnow.com has reported they are in possession of an email sent by Burke while he was working as the Director of Safety and Security at a local steel mill.

When news of the email began circulating locally, it reached the attention of City of Farrell Councilwoman Stephanie Sheffield, who said, “I was very hurt and upset. I think it was a very negative response for our area here in Sharon and Farrell.”

The email was sent in relation to a charity fundraiser and stated:

“Good morning. Please click and review. Even one dollar will be greatly appreciated. Them Sharon nig**rs gotta learn how to read.”

In a pathetic attempt at damage control, Burke went to Sheffield’s home with a handwritten apology. Of the encounter, Sheffield said Burke admitted to writing the email and said he uses the word nig**r often:

“Burke came and knocked on my door this morning with an apology letter and how he is very familiar with our community and our area. He said he does use the ‘N’ word very often because that’s the way it is in our area. I don’t think he should stand in that position if he’s going to use the ‘N’ word.”

As of this article’s publication, the city of Farrell has yet to release a statement regarding their new chief’s racist email ramblings.

FBI Let Jared Fogle Molest Children For Years During Undercover Investigation

ZIONSVILLE, Indiana — It’s often been said that the wheels of justice turn slowly and the case of former sandwich shop spokesperson , who recently pleaded guilty to sex with minors, is an unfortunate example of the cost of that creeping pace.

Subway restaurant spokesman Jared Fogle walks to a waiting car as he leaves his home, in Zionsville, Ind. A raid at Fogle’s home on Tuesday is just the latest bad news to hit the ubiquitous sandwich chain. The company has been struggling with sales, its CEO is being treated for cancer and it’s trying to convince customers about the quality and value of its food. (AP Photo/Michael Conroy)

In August, Fogle agreed to plead guilty to possession of child pornography and sex with two minors. The media got a closer look at the evidence against him on Oct. 27 when The New York Post revealed the contents of audio tapes secretly recorded by Rochelle Herman-Walrond, a journalist who went undercover to assist the in their investigation of Fogle.

Beyond the appalling contents of the tapes themselves, in which Fogle openly brags about raping a boy in Thailand, they reveal that the government knew about his crimes for years before taking action to stop them, as noted by Justin Gardner, a writer for The Free Thought Project:

“[Herman-Walrond] contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation, who asked her to wear a wire. … She wore a wire for four-and-a-half years before the FBI took action and arrested Fogle.”

In August, Herman-Walrond even questioned the slow progress of the case herself in an interview with ABC affiliate WWSB, where she commented, “That was my biggest question, ‘Why was it taking so long?’ … A case of this size just happens to take that long, and that’s what I was told.”

In his plea bargain, Fogle agreed to plead guilty to paying for sex with two minors and possessing child pornography, but Hermand-Walrond has told the media that she believes there are more victims. Russell Taylor, the head of Fogle’s defunct charity to fight childhood obesity, filmed an additional 12 victims engaging in sexual conduct and shared those images with Fogle.

Since Sept. 11, 2001, a great deal of federal law enforcement resources remain focused on countering terrorism, but the efficiency and effectively of these efforts are also under scrutiny. Rather than targeting genuine terrorists, the analysis suggests that the FBI and other agencies encourage or actively manufacture terrorist behavior for which suspects are later arrested. These cases often move much more quickly than the decade-long investigation of Fogle, as Gardner observed in his report:

The casual excuse is the bureaucracy itself, but we know that when the government wants to act quickly, it does. It does not hesitate in killing, disappearing, or jailing those it deems are a threat to government, and it sets aside constitutional protections to do so.

However, when the threat is in the form of sexual predation on children, government takes its time because ‘it just happens to take that long.’”

(Video) Chicago Police Officer Kills 17 Year Old Then Police Delete Video Recorded by Burger King Cameras #seekingjustice

November 25 (ITLWMC)

The manager and employees of a Chicago Burger King claim that Chicago police officers entered their restaurant and deleted security camera footage of police killing teenager . “We had no idea they were going to sit there and delete the footage.”

Chilling dashcam footage showing a Chicago police officer shooting dead a teenager has been made public despite attempts by both the police and Chicago city officials to block its release. The shocking video shows officer shoot 17-year-old Laquan McDonald 16 times, and for 13 seconds as the motionless young man lays on the ground at point blank range. At one point, smoke can be seen coming from the teenager’s back as shots are fired.

Van Dyke has been charged with first-degree murder and Mayor Rahm Emanuel and members of the police department have urged for peaceful protest in the wake of the release of this horrifying footage. After the death of McDonald on October 20, 2014, Van Dyke claimed he had felt threatened by the teenager. The video shows McDonald, who is armed with a small knife, walking away from police officers. He was reportedly told to drop the knife but it is hard to tell if that is the case as there is no sound on the video. Police had also said McDonald had threatened them with a knife and slashed at the tires and windshield of a patrol car.

Van Dyke then opens fire and keeps shooting after the teen falls to the ground. The teenager’s previously released autopsy report showed that he was shot at least twice in his back. It also showed that there was PCP in his system at the time of his death. The officer had been on the scene for less than 30 seconds after he opened fire according to reports, and was the only person to shoot his weapon, emptying his 9 mm pistol and even going to reload. After McDonald’s body lays dead on the road, Van Dyke then walks over and kicks the knife out of the teenager’s hand.

Police had arrived after reports that someone had been breaking into cars and stealing stereos and also trying to break into a trucking yard with a knife. There were eight police officers on the scene when McDonald was shot. In addition to fighting the release of this dashcam video, it has also been widely reported that police deleted footage of the shooting from a nearby Burger King’s surveillance camera. Burger King District manager Jay Darshane even admitted that police had tampered with their video.

(Video) Here’s What Really Happened Inside The Violent Donald Trump Rally in Birmingham

(ANTIMEDIA) Birmingham, Alabama – The South has a history of inspiring the voiceless to shout from the rooftops of their oppression. These echoes of the past, which still reverberate through the region’s culture, are mixed with shades of inspiration and hues of hate. It has been those seeking inclusion—rather than exclusion—who have allowed the daylight to pierce the shadows of fear. Fear is the foundation of hate, and hate is the cornerstone of persecution, but those who refuse to be trampled in silence give the next generation a platform on which to be heard.

On Saturday,  spoke to a crowd of a few thousand people in my hometown of Birmingham, Alabama. I was one of the attendees.

Arriving a few minutes after the 11 am start time printed on my ticket (which was free), I approached the entrance to the North Exhibition Hall of the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center, unsure of what to expect. There was no line awaiting me. The mixed crowd of Secret Service, TSA, and local police kept our encounters brief. I was silently ushered through one of the multiple metal detectors that stood at attention like gates standing guard over an ancient city. Without incident, I walked toward a double glass door and eased open one side when my ears were immediately bombarded with a familiar voice bellowing over a microphone. Though the speaker was still out of view, I knew the voice belonged to Donald Trump. The former host of The Apprentice had apparently just gathered himself at the podium as his voice sounded rehearsed pleasantries to a clamoring audience. Since I chose to view the spectacle from behind the horde, I never got closer to Trump than the back of the room.

The first few minutes of his oration was liberally scattered with words like “losers,” “dopes,” and “morons,” as he referenced ISIS, John Kerry, and Barack Obama. He followed that tirade with the claim he would call Iranian Ali Khamenei “babe,” and “hey you,” as he scolded the president for referring to the Iranian cleric as “Supreme Leader.” After he mentioned his desire to behead members of ISIS, he said something that really grabbed my attention:

“Look at that, people are still pouring in! You’re so lucky to be in here, by the way. Look at you. You’re so lucky. ‘Lotta people outside! By the way, if you want, we can wait about an hour and get everybody in. You wanna do that?”

As I mentioned before, I did not wait behind a single person when I entered the facility only moments earlier. There were not people still pouring in as he stated—but there were apparently a lot of lies pouring out.

Most of what followed from of the billionaire was predominately self-boasting and braggadocio. It wasn’t until about 17 minutes in that my ears perked up and my heart sank. When Trump’s reverb-laden voice inflated the room with the words, “We have to build a wall,” the voices of the crowd soared. Attendees roared as their words rose in unison: “Build that wall…Build that wall…Build that wall!” I was astonished.

I not only felt the embarrassment of being from a place where people who mostly define themselves as Christian chant to expel a group of people out of their country—I was also overwhelmed with glimpses of 1930s Germany. How fast the went from the party of “Tear down this wall!” to “Build that wall!” I stood there dumbstruck amid the realization that it’s not the crazy thoughts of one man that steer us down our path of destruction. It’s the lunatic mentality of the mob.

Trump had settled back into singing the self-lauding psalm of Trump when I decided I had seen all there was to see. “He thinks highly of himself…I get the point,” I said internally.

The speech was barely halfway over before I was gone.

Then, of course, something happened.

As I drove all of five minutes home, another Birmingham resident, , was being physically ejected from the same exhibition hall I had just escaped.

Mercutio, who attended the event with friends and ., is the co-founder of the Black Lives Matter movement in Birmingham. He was forcibly removed from the building after numerous attendees violently engaged him. Multiple videos have been posted online showing Mercutio being assaulted on the floor of the civic center.

Mercutio spoke with Anti-Media to give his account of the altercation:

“[Carlos] had his phone up recording. He was live streaming on Periscope and saying ‘I’m recording at a Donald Trump rally.’ I think he may have then said ‘Donald Trump is not welcome here,’ or something like that. It wasn’t even loud. He was just holding up the camera and saying it. Then somebody came up and slapped the camera out of his hand,” Mercutio said.

The activist expressed that he didn’t believe the man who knocked the smartphone out of his friend’s hand was with Trump’s official campaign team. Rather, he suspected it was “just some guy” who attended the event to support the Republican candidate.

Listen to Mercutio Southall’s hour-long, in-studio interview with Anti-Media radio below:

“Nobody had chanted anything, nothing. But he started on us, and I kinda stepped to the guy. Carlos then said, ‘Don’t hit my sh*t’ and the guy said, ‘I just did,’” according to Mercutio.

“That’s when we pushed ourselves forward and started chanting, ‘Black Lives Matter’ and ‘Dump Trump,’” he continued. “Then people started surrounding us, getting in front of us, and blocking our way. People started shoving and chanting, ‘All lives matter’ and were trying to grab our arms and hands.”

“At this point, I look around and don’t even see Carlos and Alecha anymore,” Mercutio said. “That’s when the crowd converged around me and the next thing I know I’m at the bottom of a pile of 8 to 12 people throwing them off of me. A lady kicked me in the stomach and a guy kicked me in the chest before I finally threw enough people off of me to be able to get up. A Secret Service guy had come over there by that time to help me up. That’s when another guy then started choking me from behind. He didn’t stop until I elbowed him in the groin and the police grabbed me,” he explained.

“It felt like I was being lynched in front of police and they didn’t do anything about it,” Mercutio added.

As law enforcement removed the young protesters from the building, Donald Trump leaned into the microphone. With a cold growl, he said, “Get ‘em the hell outta here, will you please? Get ‘em out! Throw ‘em out!” He later referred to the activists as “bloodsuckers” and “terrible people.”

No charges will be filed against either the protestors or their attackers.

Once the commotion died down among those left inside the civic center, Trump expounded upon his Orwellian vision for the United States. The wealthy real estate mogul acted as a cheerleader for the warrantless mass surveillance of American citizens. He also unapologetically stated he supported a database for Muslim Americans and the surveillance of “certain mosques.”

On Sunday morning, while speaking with Fox News about the altercation from the day prior, Trump bemoaned that “Maybe [Mercutio] should have been roughed up because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing.” Trump made this statement less than 24 hours after his campaign said it “does not condone” the physical manner of the altercation.

As for Mercutio, he told Anti-Media not only why he felt he needed to attend the Trump event, but why he feels activism plays a necessary and vital role in the community:

“It is our duty to fight for our freedom. We have kids. We have a responsibility to our future. Our silence is our acquiescence. And I’m not gonna sit by and watch this sh*t happen.”

Bill Clinton Admits He’s Destroyed Millions Of Black Men With Prisons

Admits That Mass Incarceration Stems From Policies Enacted During His Administration

President Bill Clinton on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, conceded that over-incarceration in the United States stems in part from policies passed under his administration.

Clinton signed into law an omnibus crime bill in 1994 that included the federal “three strikes” provision, mandating life sentences for criminals convicted of a violent felony after two or more prior convictions, including drug crimes. Clinton acknowledged that policy’s role in over-incarceration in an interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour.

“The problem is the way it was written and implemented is we cast too wide a net and we had too many people in prison,” Clinton said Wednesday. “And we wound up…putting so many people in prison that there wasn’t enough money left to educate them, train them for new jobs and increase the chances when they came out so they could live productive lives.”

Clinton’s comments come on the heels of protests in Baltimore over policing and the death of a young black man there and a week after Hillary Clinton delivered one of the first policy addresses of her presidential campaign on , saying that the system focuses too much on incarceration.

“Keeping them behind bars does little to reduce crime, but it does a lot to tear apart families,” Hillary Clinton said. “Our prisons and our jails are now our mental health institutions.”

Your Black World’s Dr. Boyce Watkins shares his thoughts on the former presidents too little, too late admission of his involvement in the mass incarceration on black men.

Reporter Confuses Star Wars’ Rebel Alliance with al-Qaeda

(ANTIMEDIA)  – A Spanish reporter for TVE’s morning news show, , demonstrated the “Force” was most certainly not with him as he delivered an on-air report about France’s airstrikes against Syria following the Paris attacks. On Monday, Jota Abril discussed French retaliatory bombardments live on state television, and a graphic appeared behind him meant to depict the insignias of terror groups al-Qaeda and ISIS. Instead, what people saw was the logo for the Rebel Alliance from .

“[Raqqa] was one of the first cities taken in 2013 by terrorist groups, but terrorist groups from al-Qaeda,” he said, pointing to the image.

Another Spanish reporter picked up the blunder, which prompted Abril to take to his Twitter account to apologize for the misreport. “This morning I confused a logo in an explanation during the programme. My own fault. I am sorry if it offended anyone,” he said.

While accusing Luke Skywalker of being a member of al-Qaeda might seem like a minor error in reporting to most, it is a detail most 12-year-olds would catch. How a production team overlooked such a discrepancy is more than a little troubling considering people rely on these same reporters to relay world events back to them.

A good rule for all newscasters in the future should be: if you don’t know the difference between jihad and Jedi, you shouldn’t be empowered with keeping the public informed.

One thing is certain—if the Rebel Alliance were a real thing, they would undoubtedly be classified a terrorist organization by our governments.

US Congresswoman Introduces Bill To Stop “Illegal” War On Assad; Says CIA Syria Ops Must Stop

Last month, US Congresswoman went on CNN and laid bare Washington’s strategy.

In a remarkably candid interview with Wolf Blitzer, Gabbard calls Washington’s effort to oust “counterproductive” and “illegal” before taking it a step further and accusing the of arming the very same terrorists who The White House insists are “sworn enemies.”

In short, Gabbard all but tells the American public that the government is lying to them and may end up inadvertently starting “World War III.”

For those who missed it, here’s the clip:

That was before Paris.

Well, in the wake of the attacks, Gabbard has apparently had just about enough of Washington vacillating in the fight against terror just so the US can ensure that ISIS continues to destabilize Assad and now, with bi-partisan support, the brazen Hawaii Democrat has introduced legislation to end the “illegal war” to overthrow Assad.

Gabbard, who fought in Iraq – twice – has partnered with Republican Adam Scott on the bill. Here’s AP:

In an unusual alliance, a House Democrat and Republican have teamed up to urge the Obama administration to stop trying to overthrow Syrian President Bashar Assad and focus all its efforts on destroying Islamic State militants.

Reps. Tulsi Gabbard, a Democrat, and Austin Scott, a Republican, introduced legislation on Friday to end what they called an “illegal war” to overthrow Assad, the leader of Syria accused of killing tens of thousands of Syrian citizens in a more than four-year-old civil war entangled in a battle against IS extremists, also known as ISIS.

“The U.S. is waging two wars in Syria,” Gabbard said. “The first is the war against ISIS and other Islamic extremists, which Congress authorized after the terrorist attack on 9/11. The second war is the illegal war to overthrow the Syrian government of Assad.”

Scott said, “Working to remove Assad at this stage is counter-productive to what I believe our primary mission should be.”

Since 2013, the CIA has trained an estimated 10,000 fighters, although the number still fighting with so-called moderate forces is unclear. CIA-backed rebels in Syria, who had begun to put serious pressure on Assad’s forces, are now under Russian bombardment with little prospect of rescue by their American patrons, U.S. officials say.

For years, the CIA effort had foundered — so much so that over the summer, some in Congress proposed cutting its budget. Some CIA-supported rebels had been captured; others had defected to extremist groups.

Gabbard complained that Congress has never authorized the CIA effort, though covert programs do not require congressional approval, and the program has been briefed to the intelligence committees as required by law, according to congressional aides who are not authorized to be quoted discussing the matter.

Gabbard contends the effort to overthrow Assad is counter-productive because it is helping IS topple the Syrian leader and take control of all of Syria. If IS were able to seize the Syrian military’s weaponry, infrastructure and hardware, the group would become even more dangerous than it is now and exacerbate the refugee crisis.

And make no mistake, Tulsi’s understanding of Washington’s absurd Mid-East policy goes far beyond Syria. That is, Gabbard fully grasps the big picture as well. Here’s what she has to say about the idea that the US should everywhere and always attempt to overthrow regimes when human rights groups claim there’s evidence of oppression:

“People said the very same thing about Saddam (Hussein), the very same thing about (Moammar) Gadhafi, the results of those two failed efforts of regime change and the following nation-building have been absolute, not only have they been failures, but they’ve actually worked to strengthen our enemy.”

Somebody get Langley on the phone, this woman must be stopped.

Here’s Gabbard speaking to CNN this week about Assad:

So there’s hope for the US public after all.

Perhaps if the clueless masses won’t listen to “lunatic” fringe blogs or Sergei Lavrov, they’ll listen to a US Congresswoman who served two tours of duty in Iraq and who is now telling Americans that The White House, The Pentagon, and most especially the CIA are together engaged in an “illegal” effort to overthrow the government of a sovereign country and in the process are arming the very same extremists that are attacking civilians in places like Paris.

Good luck Tulsi, and thanks for proving that there’s at least one person inside that Beltway that isn’t either dishonest or naive.

From Gabbard

“Here are 10 reasons the U.S. must end its war to overthrow the Syrian government of Assad:

  1. Because if we succeed in overthrowing the Syrian government of Assad, it will open the door for ISIS, al-Qaeda, and other Islamic extremists to take over all of Syria.  There will be genocide and suffering on a scale beyond our imagination.  These Islamic extremists will take over all the weaponry, infrastructure, and military hardware of the Syrian army and be more dangerous than ever before.
  2. We should not be allying ourselves with these Islamic extremists by helping them achieve their goal because it is against the security interests of the United States and all of civilization.
  3. Because the money and weapons the CIA is providing to overthrow the Syrian government of Assad are going directly or indirectly into the hands of the Islamic extremist groups, including al-Qaeda affiliates, al-Nusra, Ahrar al-Sham, and others who are the actual enemies of the United States.  These groups make up close to 90 percent of the so-called opposition forces and are the most dominant fighters on the ground.
  4. Because our efforts to overthrow Assad has increased and will continue to increase the strength of ISIS and other Islamic extremists, thus making them a bigger regional and global threat.
  5. Because this war has exacerbated the chaos and carnage in Syria and, along with the terror inflicted by ISIS and other Islamic extremist groups fighting to take over Syria, continues to increase the number of Syrians forced to flee their country.
  6. Because we should learn from our past mistakes in Iraq and Libya that U.S. wars to overthrow secular dictators (Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddafi) cause even more chaos and human suffering and open the door for Islamic extremists to take over in those countries.
  7. Because the U.S. has no credible government or government leader ready to bring order, security, and freedom to the people of Syria.
  8. Because even the ‘best case’ scenario—that the U.S. successfully overthrows the Syrian government of Assad—would obligate the United States to spend trillions of dollars and the lives of American service members in the futile effort to create a new Syria.  This is what we have been trying to do in Iraq for twelve years, and we still have not succeeded.  The situation in Syria will be much more difficult than in Iraq.
  9. Because our war against the Syrian government of Assad is interfering with our being one-pointedly focused on the war to defeat ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and the other Islamic extremists who are our actual enemy.
  10. Because our war to overthrow the Assad government puts us in direct conflict with Russia and increases the likelihood of war between the United States and Russia and the possibility of another world war.”
